The songs on this album were composed during various periods of transition. Life can be thought of as a continuous series of transitions. Whether they are stages of life, beginnings and endings of relationships, birth and death of self-concepts, or the seamless entrance and exit from moment to moment, transition is an inescapable and integral part of our journey. When closely investigated, each transition embodies and conjures the full spectrum of human experience - joy, fear, anticipation, loss, excitement, regret, resistance, acceptance, and surrender. Each transition is a request and an opportunity to let go of all that come before, and enter into the unknown. Each transition is a mandate and a possibility to taste and witness the limitless boundaries of who we truly are. This album is a collection of efforts to welcome, catalog, interpret, transmute, and document the landscapes of some transitions which I traversed.

Fostering is Hang Ruan. Hang began writing music in 1990, and worked in music production in Chicago from 1998-2006. He makes eclectic music utilizing analog and software synthesizers, guitar, piano/keyboard, sound generators, percussion, drum machines, samplers, effects, field recordings, and found sounds.
